Rep. Charles Rangel has been given the boot after being found guilty of breaking many a rules. The House of Ethics Violations has censured Rangel as thus. Right from a fund raising effort for a Newyork college to even his personal finances, he is known to have broken eleven separate congressional rules.
He is considered to be one of the most influential members of the house. None the less, the question hovering overhead here is, if Rangel will keep the Harlem congressional seat which has been his effortlessly since 1970. Newyork governor David Paterson is touted as the next in line to replace Rangel and fill in his empty shoes. David Alexander Paterson is the 55th governor of Newyork.
Paterson in however considered more of a lame duck. As the weeks have passed, the speculation revolving David Paterson has now heated up big time, all the more in the recent weeks. Interestingly here are a few things one ought to be surprised by after knowing of. Rangel lives in the same building as David Paterson. Add to this that Paterson’s father is a good friend of Rangel.
The other talks doing the rounds are of Assemblyman Keith Wright replacing Rangel. In fact Wright himself stated recently that he would much like to replace Rangel after Rangel is removed of his congressional membership.
In the mean time however, one would do well to remember that in spite of being under the scanner right now, Rangel has a brilliant backing of Harlem. He had got not less than eighty one percent of votes in the general election which makes him a big hit with the crowd undoubted.
